The Commissioner for NRI Affairs will hold the Know Goa Programme here from November 28 to December 12, to make the youth of Goan origin who are not Indian nationals to discover their roots. Speaking to reporters here today, the Commissioner for NRI Affairs Eduardo Faleiro said that the Know Goa Programme is an orientation programme which has been formulated by his office in Goa for the benefit of youth of Goan origin in the age group 18 to 28 years who are not Indian nationals and who had no opportunity to discover their roots in Goa and in India. He said they have received about 18 applications for participation in the programme from diaspora youths in countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Tanzania, United Kingdom and United States of America. The applications were being scruitized in consultation with the embassies of the respective countries, he informed. During the stay in Goa, participants will be taken to educational, cultural, historical and industrial places of intetest in Goa, where they will interact with elected representatives, Mr Faleiro said. They will also call on Chief Minister Diagambar Kamat, Assembly Speaker Pratapsinh Rane and other dignitaries. After completing their assignment in Goa, another programme will be held for them in Delhi from December 7 to 12. They will visit the World Heritage monumenets in Delhi and Agra. Their stay in Delhi will be hosted by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, he added.
