Joel Fernandes shines as GOA NSW takes the “Silver Medal” in the 2011 MANGO Cup

Young Goan batting sensation Joel Fernandes a year 9 student was declared the best batsman at the ManGo Cup Tournament. The determined GOA NSW cricket team finished as runners up in a triangular series with the Australian Residents Anglo Indian Association (ARAIA) and the Manglorean Catholic Association of Sydney (MCAS) played on Sunday, 6 November. GOA NSW were last year’s Cup holders.

Stanley D’Cruz, President MCAS, Tony Colaco,       President GOA NSW and David Conquest, Chairman ARAIA Trustees participated in the presentation of the trophies.
Speaking after the match GOA NSW Cricket Captain and Vice President said “we will bounce back next year while we actively scout and promote young talent in our community”.  Other awards were given to:

Player of the series: Ansel Castelino (MCAS)
Best Bowler: Michael Fernandes (MCAS)
Best Fielder: Larry Hill (ARAIA)
